A Summer of Growth and Discovery
My Internship Experience
My name is Kaitlyn Esplin
This summer has been one of the most rewarding and enriching experiences. As a Bachelor of Science in Geology student working as a Recreation Technician Intern at the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument with the Bureau of Land Management, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the natural beauty and complex management of this unique landscape. From hands-on fieldwork to engaging with visitors, every aspect of the internship offered valuable insights and practical skills that have profoundly impacted my professional and personal growth.

Personal and Professional Impact
Engaging in various projects, from trail assessments to visitor interaction, allowed me to develop essential skills and gain deep insights into conservation and land management. This experience has been a significant step in my professional journey, offering both personal growth and practical knowledge.
Cherished Memories and Lasting Lessons
The experiences I’ve gathered during this internship go beyond professional development; they are cherished memories and profound lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Contributing to such a stunning and significant natural landscape has left an indelible mark on me, enriching my journey as I continue to explore and learn in my field.
